Spiritual Warfare In Kenya

Success in the lives of Christians Tithing in Kenya: Is it Necessary for Christians today?Wisdom: Christian Education in Kenya

Sometime this year, i received a phone call and the people were asking me for some money failure to which they would harm me. I did not tell anybody other than my prayer partners.  I feared for my life and so i looked for the money and gave them. I believed it was over but not for long. After  two months, i received another call, this time nobody would speak.  When i called back the  same number it would be picked but nobody would speak. So i started saving these numbers because it was not one. And it did not bother me until i started receiving calls at odd hours of the night so i decided to go to the police.  Somebody seemed to have seen me going because that evening i received a text that was threatening but the way it was written was to scare me.  It really got me scared and when i called my prayer partners they were asleep and had switched off their phones so i prayed for myself and eventually was able to sleep. What i knew is that i was not going to give any more money no matter what.  My constant partner was Jesus Christ.  I read the word like crazy. I knew if God is not for me at that time, i would surely be killed.   I have given this story because it is an example of Spiritual Warfare.

Spiritual Warfare in Kenya

Every challenge to a Christian is spiritual warfare.  Your spiritual self is under test as you experience spiritual bondage. The test is to see where your allegiance is.  When you have a challenge where do you run to? When you become a Christian you are supposed to be developing into a Christ like being which is a spiritual being.  However, you are still on earth and this earth has its owner the prince of the world who does not like that you owe allegiance to another other than him hence spiritual warfare to the children of God and his aim is to put you under spiritual bondage.

a)      To prune –  jn 15: 2 every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away and every branch that beareth fruit he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. In Gen 1:27 God created us to be fruitful in every good works and when God does not see us being fruitful   as he desires or as he wills then he prunes us so that we may be fruitfull.

b)      To test our faith – When we become Christian’s we are expecting a good life.  We also read the bible and see the promises of God and we are partakers by virtue of being in Christ so we claim them.  However, to every promise of God there is a qualification. For example, Gods Kingdom Law promises prosperity and success however to qualify for this promise we must read, meditate on and speak the word of God day and night.

c)      To make us grow – without spiritual warfare in our lives, I do not know how we would grow spiritually.  If you are true follower of Jesus, you are not to give up on him when you face trials.  You will do whatever it takes to ensure that you do not give up on the faith. Spiritual warfare makes a true follower of Christ to return to Christ because you need his help.

d)      Building Character – We glory in tribulations because tribulations produces perseverance and perseverance produces a strong character in us which gives hope Romans 5:4.  If you are faithful to the end of The trial, your Character is transformed for your good and Gods glory.

e)      To glorify God – When undergoing spiritual warfare, you cannot see the positive side of things normally and you give up and tell God to take charge of everything because if he doesn’t you will surely collapse. That surrender to Gods working is glorifying God and it pleases him and so he gets you out of the mess in such a way that it is evident that only God got you out of that mess.  No one else could have done it.  he does it in a such a manner that he cannot share the glory with anyone else. SOLUTION TO SPIRITUAL WARFARE IN KENYA For though we Christians walk in the flesh we don’t war against the flesh 2Cor 10:3  This is why to fight this warfare, one needs to put on the full armour of God to withstand the wiles of the evil one.  Our salvation works as our helmet.  The full armour of God is:

a)      Righteousness works as a breastplate in this war.- one needs to be walking in righteousness at all time because if you are not then it is very hard to be protected from the evil one.  Your righteousness works as your breastplate in spiritual warfare, without it the darts of the evil one will come direct and shoot you and you will die so work to increase your righteousness.

b)      Faith works as a shield to quench fiery darts of the wicked one. You must continue to work on your faith with fear and trembling because without it, the darts will kill you, you cannot triumph in this warfare.  Stand firm in your faith.

c)      Word of God works as the sword of the spirit. Continue reading spiritual warfare scripture as it is your sword.  You are to speak to the enemy the word of God at every opportunity because that is how you will defeat him.   Remind the devil that the battle is the Lords. God’s word gives you spiritual authority

d)     Pray always without ceasing.- When under spiritual attack, you must make warfare  prayers without ceasing but sometimes it is very hard to pray during this time because one feels very low so you can ask your prayer partners to pray for you.  Pray without ceasing.

There are two other weapons i feel work marvellously for fighting spiritual warfare.

This is Worship and praise. Music always soothes the spirit but at the same time you are praising God and he loves the praises of our mouths and therefore pleasing God.  At the same time you are inviting him in your presence as you worship and in the presence of the Lord there is fullness of joy.

Another weapon that I find very powerful in spiritual warfare is the name of the Lord.  The bible says the name of the Lord is a strong and mighty tower, the righteous run into it and they are safe.  Just calling the name of the Lord Jesus can save you.

When I feel unsafe, may it be in public means of transport or anywhere really, I just keep repeating “i am protected by the blood of Jesus Christ”.  It makes me feel safe but it calls God to do his work on my behalf.

The battles of the righteous are many but the Lord delivers him from them all.  Be assured that whatever spiritual warfare you are going through will come to an end and that God is in control of it as long as you do not give up.  In due course you will wake up and shout “though sorrow may last through the night, joy comes in the morning”.
